12/18/03 23:25:56Dell has the 2001FP out now, which is also 1600x1200 but it sports a 16ms response time. I just got mine in the other day and LOVE it. Dell Small Business has them for $750 right now.

01/21/04 21:25:39heh you dont need no bloody drivers, anywy why should you ? its just like any other monitor innit? linux drivers for monitor.. bah.. and what exaclty you wann them to do? control your brightness and contrast? over? a vga cable? common get real, only window$ has anything n the taste of 'drivers' for a monitor but its damn obvious theyre just a joke - all theyre good for is you do not need to set the monitor capabilities manually, which you anyway do with xf86cfg in linux so i see no other reason for having such extra kb's on my hd.. bahhh!!

03/23/04 20:21:18I thought that dell always come with microsoft installed on them. This is the first time I've ever heard of dell supporting linux.
That is great that you can modify the dell so well in linux. That's the way it shoud be. Microsoft shouldn't be able to be the only ones to be able to use nice monitors like that.
This is a great step in the right direction for linux! -

05/09/04 17:07:03Sam I second that, oh oh lucky all our windows machines come preloaded with keyboard and monitor drivers, Microsoft is so smart that they even load the drivers for you before setup starts, and it works with all sorts of monitors and keyboards too.. I love microsoft. :) It's sooo easy.

05/09/04 20:31:30The 2001FP is very pretty, both for development and digital photography work (and works fine at 1600x1200 with my 12"PowerBook, over VGA, and on my officemates' Linux systems, just like every other VGA monitor :-) The monitor stands they come with are also quite clever, especially if you're using them with a laptop, they support the screen high enough to put the laptop screen below on the same desk.

05/12/04 09:34:04WOW Windows comes with KB preloaded drivers?? I took my Packard Bell PC to a reputable computer store to have them loaded for me because they said my Winchester drive modem was in default to my IP CMOS registry editor. But they got it working! at the small cost of $100.00 (well worth it.)
I think the error was "Remove disc to continue." They said it took them all day to reprogram my data configuration BIOS file with a PIF editor but my keyboard is working perfectly now. Boy you computer wizards are the best keep up the great work... -

06/10/04 19:35:02lol I have searched for "DVI LINUX DELL 2000FP" on Google infrequently for over a year (doing the search about once a month) and I find this site everytime.
When I first found it, only the original sarcastic post was here -- but by now, more and more posts have cropped up, continuing the blatant mockery.
! ~ Keep up the great work ~ ! -
